Introduction
If you hate the Humminbird Fishin Buddy 140c,120,130 idea of using 6 AA battery pack as the energy source for the fishing trip and wished it could just plug in into your trolling motor battery pack - this post will help you build just what you are looking for.Assumptions
You are using some sort of 12V battery holder that allows for a cigarette light adapters.
For example I used MinnKota Power Center
What do you need?
1. 9v Medela Car Adapter2. Radio-shack's Panel Mount Size M Coaxial Power Jack (274-1582)
3. Raychem Heat-Shrink Tubing 1/4" to 1/8" (you can get those at home depot)
4. Raychem Heat-Shrink Tubing 1/2" to 1/4"
5. Humminbird Power Cord

Building Steps
What you do next is fairly simple1. Dry run the setup using alligator clipts, notice the correct connectivity or Red/Black wires from the Humminbird power cord to the Power Jack. Red should be connected to the inside pin and the black wire to the internal surface area of the Power Jack/
2. Slide the 1/4" to 1/8" shirnk wrap tubing onto the Humminbird power cord
3. Slide 2 1/2" to 1/4" shrink wrap tubes onto the Humminbird power cord
4. Slide 2 1/4" to 1/4" shrink warp tubes the Medela's 9v Car Adapter
5. Solder the Power Jack to the Humminbird Power Cord
6. Slide the 1/4" shirnk wrap tube back to the power the jack and shring it
7. Slide the 1/2" shrink wrap tube over the power jack and shrink it.
8. Repeat again for the outer shell
9. Done
The shrink wrap tubing is to isolate the moisture as much as possible and to protect the wires from bending too much at the soldering joint.
Final Product
After you are done with the set of steps above you can use your built-in AA battery pack, but you can also easily switch to use the power from the trolling motor battery which will essentially provide you with unlimited power.
Enjoy worry free fish-finding!
